Meghann Stephenson (b. 1990, Virginia) is an artist living and working in Los Angeles, California. She earned a BFA from Parsons in 2013. Stephenson primarily works with oil, employing traditional methods to interpret enduring themes of gender, interpersonal relationships and girlhood through a contemporary lens. Stephenson’s practice encompasses both portrait and still life works, playfully featuring subtle surreal elements mined from personal experience and art history. Her subjects, rendered in muted tones, are often situated in undefined spaces, creating a sense of uncertainty and isolation.
