Larissa De Jesús Negrón

Larissa De Jesús Negrón (Puerto Rican, b. 1994), a multidisciplinary artist based in Queens, New York, delves into the essence of storytelling to process her life experiences. Since leaving her island at nineteen, her art has been a journey of self-discovery and finding presence. Embracing change and experimenting with various materials, she forges a spiritual connection with her work.

 

Her stylistically varied imagery, is similar of Surrealist exploration, exploring the subconscious mind and revealing her personal narratives and symbolic memories from her Puerto Rican upbringing. Through vulnerability, she shares intimate stories, exploring themes of humour, pain, and mundane moments, fostering connections with her audience through her personal memories. 

 

Larissa's artistic journey began at nine, excelling in adult drawing classes her mom signed her up for, before pursuing formal education in art. Graduating with honours from Central High, she continued her studies at The School of Plastic Arts in Old San Juan and later earned a BFA with high honours from Hunter College in NYC.
