Cristina Lama is a Spanish contemporary artist born in 1977, currently living and working in Seville, Spain. To her, there is pure pleasure in the act of painting. The works by the artist are less about the topics and recognisable elements, instead the subject and imagery are merely tools and an excuse to explore pictorial composition. Her dynamic yet considered visual language moves towards abstraction, giving the gesture of painting a greater meaning. Each painting exudes the artist’s sensitivity and emotions; each piece depicts scenes using elements with a careful balance between serenity and complex psychology. Inspiration for the artist comes from everywhere - literature, daily life, childhood memories, works by other artists. Her works are in the collection of CAC - Center for Contemporary Art of Malaga and the CAAC - Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art of Seville.
