Michael Alvarez (b. 1983, Los Angeles, CA, USA) is a mixed-media artist working with oil paints, spray paint, and graphite on canvas. He graduated from Pasadena’s ArtCenter College of Design (BFA, 2007). Alvarez has had several solo exhibitions, most notably at the Riverside Art Museum, Riverside (2019); Marlborough Contemporary Art, New York (2018); and MaRS, Los Angeles (2016). He has participated in group exhibitions at Lava Projects, Alhambra (2018); Mexican Cultural and Cinematographic Center: Consulate General of Mexico, Los Angeles (2018); Museum of Art and History, Lancaster (2017); 4th SUR:biennial at Cerritos College Art Gallery, Cerritos (2017); Joshua Liner Gallery, New York (2015); and Giant Robot, Santa Monica (2015), to name a few. His work is part of the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art and Culture at the Riverside Art Museum, Riverside. Alvarez’s practice has been featured in LA Weekly, Juxtapoz, and BOOOOOOOM.
